The Opus Australia team won a Project Excellence Award for Asset Management at the IPWEAQ (Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia, Queensland branch) Excellence Awards. The ORRG comprises of seven councils in Western Queensland and the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Central West Region. It collectively manages 5,500km of local roads of regional significance.
The Carterton Events Centre won the 2012 NZIA Wellington Branch Award in the Public Architecture category and two projects, Porirua College and Te Wainui a Rua School both collected the 2012 NZIA in the Education category (the Wellington Branch Award and Western Brand Award respectively).
The Auckland Motorway Alliance won the Best Practice Award for Asset Management and the Supreme Roading Excellence Award. Exceeding all performance indicators, the Alliance delivered $23 million of cost savings, while developing innovative approaches to highway management The Auckland Harbour Bridge team achieved a highly commended award for the Bridge Strengthening Project.
Newcastle Business Manager, Hugh Tait, was announced ‘Young Professional Engineer of the Year' for the Newcastle Division of Engineers Australia. This is an annual award and the winners of each Division become the finalists for the National Young Professional Engineer of the Year Award.
