We provided architectural & lead consultant services for the refurbishment of this station
Oakwood Station was designed by Charles Holden and is Grade II listed. It has a large box shaped ticket hall mirroring proportions found in classical architecture in a distinctly 20th century structure of concrete, brick and glass.
As well as proposals for the extensive refurbishment to the architectural, mechanical, electrical, and communication facilities, the addition of step-free access in the form of an elevated walkway and lift was designed to make the station accessible for mobility-impaired customers.
The scope of the refurbishment included the station exterior, ticket hall, ticket office and platform as well as public toilets, which are part of the station’s heritage character.
